Optimise Your Shop – Part 2
This is Part 2 of our online shop checklist. Simply putting your products online does not guarantee that you are going to sell and make that profit you are after. We have put together a checklist of a few areas you can focus on to optimise your e-Commerce site and get that order coming in.
1. Product Images
Don’t just use nice product images, use amazing product images! If your budget fits, it would be a good idea to get a professional product photographer in to take the images you require. It is also imperative you provide multiple viewing-angles of your product and make them zoomable. Many people buy with their eyes, so make sure your products look attractive.
2. Be transparent with your pricing
It is imperative to be upfront and clear with regards to your pricing. Any additional costs, such as shipping and admin fees must be clearly communicated with the client before they check-out. Surprise costs are a big turnoff and may result in the client abandoning the transaction. It is also a good idea to offer discounts on these costs, such as free shipping on orders over a certain amount.
3. Product reviews optimise your online shop
Genuine product reviews are a great way of creating trust with your consumers. Try and make use of at least 5 reviews to strengthen the viability of your services and products. It is also a good idea to make use of third-party reviews from your strategic partners.
4. Related products
We strongly recommend creating a “related products” and/or “other customers also bought” section onto your product pages. This is a great way to leverage your products and increase the amount of upselling you do. Once a person has bought a product, there is often a need to purchase something that goes along with it, hence why it is also a good idea to add this section to your check-out page.
5. Payment options
Much like point 2 in this blog, it is imperative to be clear from the onset on what payment methods you offer. To optimise your online shop we also suggest trying to make your methods as diverse as possible to ensure that most visitors are able to complete the transaction without any trouble.
6. Stock visibility
There are few things more frustrating than making a purchase only to wait a few weeks for the item to be delivered. The most common cause of this is due to the item being out of stock and the seller needing to order more. Be clear with the stock levels you have on hand. It is very important to manage client expectations and, in turn, the overall service reputation of your company.
